Documents do not sign themselves. People get busy, emails get buried, and deadlines slip. Suresign helps you keep things moving with reminders, expiry dates, and a clear status view. This page shows you how to use them.

Document status at a glance

Every document in your workspace shows a status so you know where things stand: These statuses update automatically. You do not need to refresh the page.

How to set reminders

Reminders nudge signers who have not finished yet. They go out based on the reminder schedule you setThey go out based on the reminder schedule you set. Suresign defaults to reminding every 3 days. Admins can change the default for new documents in Settings > Sending.
1

Open reminder settings

While preparing a document, find the reminders section beside the expiry date.
2

Choose a schedule

Set how often to remind. For example, every 3 days, or turn reminders off entirely by setting it to 0.
3

Send the document

Once the document is sent, reminders go out automatically based on your schedule.
You can also ask the agent to remind signers for you. Say something like, “Remind Alex and Priya on Friday.” The agent will schedule it and show you a card before it acts.

How to set expiry dates

An expiry date closes the document if no one has signed by then. This prevents old links from staying open forever. Suresign defaults to 30 days. Admins can change the default for new documents in Settings > Sending.
1

Choose an expiry

Set a date when the document should close. Common choices are 7 days, 14 days, or 30 days after sending. You can pick any date up to one year ahead.
2

Send the document

The expiry starts counting down from the moment you send.
Once a document expires, the signing links stop working. Signers who try to open an expired link will see a message saying the document is closed.

Extend vs Reopen: two different fixes

Plans change. If a signer needs more time, you have two options depending on whether the document is still open or already expired.

What the agent can do

The agent can remind signers, extend dates, reopen expired documents, and tell you what expires this week. You can ask it in plain language:
  • “What expires this week?”
  • “Extend the Northwind NDA by 5 days.”
  • “Remind everyone who has not signed yet.”
  • “Reopen the expired offer letter for Jordan Lee.”
Every action the agent takes waits on a card for your approval before it runs, unless your admin has given the agent permission to act on its own in your workspace.
Automation reminders, such as chasing unsigned signers or weekly summaries, are available on Pro and Business plans. See Agent automations for details.
