# Sign your own document in Suresign: self-signing made simple

> Upload a document and sign it yourself in Suresign. No other signers needed. You get the same sealed PDF, certificate of completion, and audit trail as any other document.

Sometimes you are the only person who needs to sign. A self-signed letter, a memo, or a one-person affidavit. Suresign handles this just like any other document, with the same proof and protection. This page shows you how.

## When to sign it yourself

Signing alone is useful when:

* You need a signed statement for your records.
* You are the only party to the document.
* You want the same legal proof and verification as a multi-signer document.

Even with no other signers, Suresign gives you a sealed PDF, a certificate of completion, and a hash-chained audit trail anyone can check.

## How to self-sign a document

<Steps>
  <Step title="Upload your file">
    Drag a PDF, Word file, or image into your workspace, or ask the agent to draft it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place your fields">
    Use the field palette to add Signature, Initials, Date signed, or Text fields. The date fills itself automatically.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set yourself as the signer">
    Assign the fields to yourself. No other recipients are needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send and open the link">
    Send the document. You will receive your own signing link by email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Adopt your signature">
    Choose a signature style, draw one, or upload an image. Tap "Adopt and sign."
  </Step>

  <Step title="Finish">
    Tap "Finish." The document seals immediately because you are the only signer.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What you get after signing

After you finish, Suresign creates:

* A **sealed, flattened PDF** with your signature baked in. No one can edit it.
* A **certificate of completion** showing your name, the time, and the document fingerprint.
* An **audit trail** with a SHA-256 fingerprint and hash chain. Each step points to the one before it, so no one can change history.

Anyone can verify this document at [https://suresign.si/verify](https://suresign.si/verify) by uploading the file.

## Reusing your saved signature

After you sign once, Suresign saves your signature for next time. Next time you open a signing link, your saved signature appears. You can reuse it, draw a new one, or upload a different image.

Your saved signatures live in **Settings > Signatures**. You can manage them there anytime.

<Tip>
  Your saved signature is private to your account. No one else can see or use it.
</Tip>

## What the agent can do

You can ask the agent to prepare a self-signed document for you:

* "Create a self-signed memo."
* "Draft a statement of work and leave just my signature."

The agent places the fields, assigns them to you, and shows a "Review and send" card. You press the button when ready.
